About Us

Wichita Training Center (WTC) is dedicated to transforming wrestling in Kansas by creating a high-level, year-round training environment rooted in skill development, discipline, and a genuine love for the sport. Founded in 2021 by Noel Torres, a D2 National Champion and four-time Mexican National Team member, WTC began as a freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling club, quickly growing into a full-time program serving athletes of all ages and levels.

After spending five years competing internationally, Noel returned to Wichita with a clear mission: to build a program that would give Kansas wrestlers the resources, training, and mentorship needed to excel at the national level while developing life skills that extend far beyond the mat. His vision was not just to prepare athletes for local and state competitions but to empower them to become All-Americans, national champions, and even world-level competitors while cultivating a passion for wrestling that lasts a lifetime.

WTC has grown rapidly in a few short years, producing:

• 11 Kansas High School State Champions

• 26 National Champions and 71 All-Americans

• Freestyle and Greco Team State Titles

• 22  USAWKS Triple Crown winners and 1 USAW Triple Crown Winner

• A significant portion of Kansas’s Fargo qualifiers, demonstrating our athletes’ readiness for elite competition.

At WTC, we believe in long-term athlete development over short-term results. Our system is built around progressive skill development, high-level technique, advanced mat strategies, and building the mental toughness needed to thrive in wrestling and life. We do not believe in extreme weight cutting or shortcuts, but in consistent, high-quality reps and the pursuit of mastery.

Our coaching staff includes former collegiate athletes, national champions, and experienced coaches who are committed to mentoring the next generation. We foster a training environment that challenges our athletes while ensuring they enjoy the journey, building a strong community where wrestlers push each other to improve.

In 2025, we launched WTC Academy, our innovative micro-school program that blends high-level wrestling training with flexible, structured academic support for homeschool families, allowing young athletes to pursue their educational goals while training at a high level.
